Written Instructions β Dropper Loop
- Start mid-line Work in the middle of the line β both ends will continue.
- Form a large loop Fold a 3β4 inch loop in the middle of the line.
- Twist the loop 6 times Pass the loop through itself 6 times to build the barrel of twists.
- Pass original loop top through center Hold twists open and pass the bight through the center of the twisted section.
- Pull both ends Wet and pull firmly. Loop pops upright perpendicular to the main line.
Tips for Tying a Dropper Loop
- More twists give a stiffer, more perpendicular dropper β use 8β10 twists for a very stiff dropper.
- Wet thoroughly before pulling β friction can weaken monofilament if it heats up.
- Space dropper loops at least 18 inches apart so hooks don't tangle.
- A dropper loop tied in fluorocarbon produces a very stiff, fish-attracting dropper.
